My name is Mary Jane DeVault, a member of FF Greater Orlando, Florida, and I am the Journey Coordinator for the upcoming Global Journey to the North of Brazil. Brazil is very special to me, I lived in the south for several years and return as often as possible.
The adventure will consist of two seven-night homestays with FF Fortaleza and FF São Luís. I visited the Fortaleza club in 2015, and I know first hand how gracious and fun-loving these people can be.
Your hosts in Fortaleza will keep you busy showing your their beaches, art, markets, and much more. They will take us on an overnight stay at a hotel in a quaint fishing village. There we can watch the sunset from atop of the sand dunes. Those who wish to can take dune buggy rides along the beaches which is fun. Learning a Brazilian dance with my new friends left me with a special memory.
We will fly to our next club – FF São Luís. Here we will have a very special cultural experience attending the Bumba Meu Boi, a folklore story presented with song and dance. Best of all, we will get to enjoy it with our hosts! This is an event I am certainly looking forward to seeing for the first time.
The most difficult part of the Journey will be saying goodbye to our new Brazilian friends. The people and beauty of this place will capture your heart! There are not many spaces left on this Journey, so please contact me if you are interested! In friendship, Mary Jane DeVault, Journey Coordinator FF Greater Orlando, Florida, USA mjdevault@gmail.com
Explore the North Sea Coast with FF Varel, Germany
July 7 to 14, 2019
My name is Birgit Wagner, and I invite you to join me and fellow members of Friendship Force of Varel, Germany this July as we explore the North Sea Coast! Varel is called a “city between water and fore
st” due to our coastal mudflats in harmony with the tides, and the unique fauna and flora of the area – which has been recognized as a UNESCO Natural Heritage site.
This Journey will be an excellent mix of outdoor activities and regional traditions, while ambassadors will enjoy a full week of home-hosting with the members of FF Varel.
Activities will include:
Cycling
Canoeing
Touring the Wadden Sea World Unesco Heritage Centre on foot
Cultural experiences will include:
Frisian tea tradition
Regional cooking
Local brewery visit
Visit of a typical Frisian windmill
A highlight of this Journey will be the day on the small island of Spiekeroog, a car-free East Frisian island with a coastal enclave and resort. As a frequent vacation destination for many German presidents, Spiekeroog is abundant with nature and charming sites, like a horse-drawn railway and small village center. We know ambassadors will particularly enjoy this day-trip.
We hope you will join us to explore our region – we have really built in many must-sees and must-dos into this week! Come and get to know this special area in Northern Germany. In friendship, Birgit Wagner, President of FF Varel, Germany FFI Board of Directors birgit-wagner@ewetel.net
Journey dates: July 7 to 14, 2019. The cost of this Journey is $750 USD and includes: FFI and host fees, meals and activities, entrance fees, tours, bike and canoe rental, transport,
and contingency fee depending on group size and exchange rate fluctuation.
