July 13, 2024 Business Meeting

Friends!

We have a terrific speaker, Celeste Nuñez, the Director of International Business Resources for the New Mexico Trade Alliance (NMTA), a nonprofit economic development organization.

Your RSVP is important as it will determine whether we will have a speaker.

She will address how she and the New Mexico Trade Alliance connect New Mexico companies with local, state, federal, and international export assistance resources to help them gain and grow international sales.

For over a decade, the NMTA has served as the state’s premiere trade organization providing export assistance to New Mexico companies, facilitating foreign company soft-landing, and advancing diplomatic relations.

The NMTA is funded by the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, State of New Mexico, and the Air Force Research Lab.

Celeste sits on the Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation Board and is Chair of the Albuquerque-Guadalajara Sister City relationship where she facilitates STEM and Art youth exchanges through the Space Messengers program. Celeste has also supported cross border collaboration with other communities in Mexico. In 2019, Celeste served as the organizer of the Albuquerque – Chihuahua Sister City Bilateral Commission. Led by the cities’ mayors, the commission provided a platform for mutually benefiting collaboration in areas such as economic development, public safety, tourism, and others.

Celeste is also a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) New Mexico Advisory Board. In 2020, she was selected as the New Mexico Next Gen Global Leader with the USGLC.

In addition, Celeste is a member of the Global Shapers Albuquerque hub, and serves as the Biz Dev and Mentorship Project lead. Born under the World Economic Forum, Global Shapers are a network of over 500 hubs in the world made of young leaders focused on enacting change in their communities.

June Social Activity

Friends!
Summer is upon us and most of us will be busy, traveling, entertaining guests, enjoying family and the outdoors,…
Our May Guest Speaker had to be cancelled due to insufficient member support.  We must have a minimum of 15 participants.  Our guest Speakers donate their time and money in preparing for their talk and in turn we support them by our attendance.
Please make time for our Locomotive Tour!  It has received raving reviews and was suggested by our member, Lenore.
The 2926 locomotive was built in May 1944.  It ran a million miles in the American SW before being retired to Coronado Park in 1956.  Approximately three years ago,
July 2, 2021, the locomotive was moved under her own steam power again.
Rescued from Coronado Park in 2000, the giant steam locomotive has been restored to full operation by the all-volunteer crew of the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society (NMSL&RHS).
The restoration effort started 22 years ago.  She was purchased for $1 from the City in 1999.  The NMSL & RHS society places her value at over 3.5 M
Join us and learn more about the new 2926 locomotive.  Lunch will follow after the presentation.
