Berta has already sent out the invitation and discussion of this meeting.

Coming up on June 8th from 10:00 m to 11:00am, we will have a guided tour of the Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society’s Museum at 1833 8th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM.

.

Volunteers worked for 20 years to restore this steam engine #2926 which was built in 1944 and is one of last steam locomotives built for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Today, it is the only operating 2900-class locomotive in the U.S. and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They are still hoping that the engine will eventually be used to take tours in New Mexico. It
should be a fun outing, so please save the date.

July and August programs are in the works!!!

March Social – additional information

Friends!
March is our Social month and what a way to utilize the beautiful International District Library with a documentary film!
Tom Dyble, one of our members, whose love is history, attended the premier showing of the film at the November 2017 meeting of the Victim of Communism Memorial Foundation in Washington DC.
Women of the Gulag:  The Last Survivors
We are privileged to have the opportunity to view the documentary film Women of the Gulag which tells the compelling and tragic stories of six women as last survivors of the Gulag.  Gulag was a government agency in charge of the Soviet forced labor camp system.  The six women were in their eighties and nineties who survived Stalin’s repression of the 1930s.  This is the first account of women in the camps and special settlements.
