March Business Meeting

Friendship Force March Business Meeting – Guest Speaker – Matt Fetrow

Friends!
Our March business meeting has a few changes which the Board hopes you will approve of!
We have a new time and location and those interested in having a meal with the speaker will be able to do so at O’Neills Pub & Restaurant nearby.  After the presentation, we will relocate to the restaurant.
The United States Space Force (USSF) is a separate and distinct branch of the armed services, organized under the Department of the Air Force similar to how the Marine Corps is organized under the Department of the Navy.
The USSF is responsible for organizing, training, and equipping personnel to conduct global space operations that enhance the way our joint and coalition forces fight.

Matt Fetrow, our Guest Speaker, is the Communications Director and Outreach Lead for the Space Force Rapid Capabilities Office connecting businesses and academia nationwide to the work of the Space Force.  Matt received his B.S. in Physics from Utah State University and his M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.

He has led Air Force Research Laboratory’s technology transfer, STEM outreach, commercialization, innovation, and community engagement activities in New Mexico.

In addition, Matt has led numerous technology programs for the Air Force with a focus on space remote sensing, laser remote sensing, and advanced photonics.

Matt is planning a PowerPoint presentation on Space Force, the space business in general, and the Space Force work in New Mexico.

Please feel free to invite guests.

Let’s have a great turnout!

Bunco!

The February meeting site was changed to Ginger Grossetete’s house, where twelve members played Bunco, many for the first time. Members brought food and refreshments to Ginger’s home and we learned more or less how to play Bunco.  We need to play more!!!  A special thanks to Ginger for opening up her lovely house at the last minute when our scheduled hostess, Lori, became ill. February was our month to network amongst us and we did!  A good time was had by all and we look forward to learning more about the game. Lots of laughter was had and we got acquainted with 2 of our new members:  Carolyn Rigirozzi and Sue Slankard.

Outgoing Journey to North Carolina

We will be visiting the Charolette Club first from June 7th-13th.  We will then be handed off to Central North Carolina Group. We will be staying with Central North Carolina from June 13-20.  This included the towns of Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point.   13 is the max number that the  both clubs can host. Both clubs have places to show us  that  are rich in history that goes way back. Some of the possibilities are the following:
Central North Carolina
 Underground Railroad
 Civil Rights Center
 Tobacco Factories from the past.
Mount Airy where Andy Griffin’s childhood home is
 Blue Ridge Mt. Parkway
 Mountain Music.

Fourth Ward.. This is a tree lined neighborhood where houses built in 1800 are still lived in and enjoyed.
Charlotte Museum of History which tells about how they lived during the Rev. War and how the culture came together to create Charlotte.
Historic Rosedale-a plantation house situated on 8.5 acres
