Journey to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada June 18-June 25, 2020
Come join us as we journey to Saskatoon, known as the “City of Bridges” for its seven bridges that span
the South Saskatchewan River linking east to west. Saskatoon is home to the University of Saskatchewan
where leading-edge technology such as the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron draws the best minds
from around the world. The Meewasin Valley Trails are a hiker’s delight. The city’s vitality and cultural
richness are evident in every neighborhood. Saskatoon made the New York Times 52 Best Places to Visit
    in 2018.
Friendship Force Saskatoon, will host us for an activity filled week. Some of the places we may visit
include Wanaskawyn, a First Nations Cultural Centre, soon to become a UNESCO site; the Western
Development Museum, highlighting the early years of Saskatoon’s development; Manitou Springs
Mineral Spa, which is known as The Dead Sea of Canada, legendary for its natural buoyancy and mineral
    rich properties and curative powers.
We may enjoy a river boat ride on the Prairie Lily, go on a nature or river walk, visit a farm and explore
some shops and restaurants outside of the city. We will enjoy touring this culturally rich city which
houses a world renowned art gallery, a Ukrainian Museum, and innovative and plentiful restaurants.

  • All activities would require a moderate mobility level.9
The temperature in June averages in the mid-70s providing a welcome respite from the usually high June
    temperatures in Albuquerque.
The approximate cost of the journey would be $420 not including air fare. A deposit of $170 will be due
    on March 15th.
There are flights from Albuquerque and Phoenix to Saskatoon’s John G. Diefenbaker International
Airport located 3 miles northwest of Saskatoon.

New FFI board members

Dear friends, As you may all know, the governance of our wonderful organization is overseen by a group of dedicated, enthusiastic individuals whose one goal is to keep Friendship Force healthy so that it continues to thrive and expand well into the future. Each year, several members step down from the board and new ones are appointed. We are proud to announce this year’s two new appointees: Tracy Mirembe of Kampala, Uganda; and Atiek Widjajanti of Solo-Surakarta, Indonesia. With these exciting new additions, we must also say goodbye to our three departing board members: Thérèse Vilovar, Jyotsna (Jo) Custead, and Hiroshi Onishi. Thank you for serving the board tirelessly for the last three years! Please visit the Board of Directors page of our website and take a moment or two to read the biographies of our new members — and the other eight Board of Directors members, too. Don’t be afraid to make yourselves known to us at conferences or on Journeys –- we need to know what you are thinking. In friendship, Bobbie Mulholland Adelaide, Australia 2020 Board Chair
